Tinyteddy fell in love in Lagos

Yes it’s true but let him tell you all about it in his feedback at the end of the post.

Its our first full day in Lagos and we have a Keke tour of the town.

Lagos Keke

Tinyteddy was bowled over when Rory turned up for us promptly at 10am. Lagos is not what you would call a very touristic town but I enjoyed the slightly edgy feel to the town. Our first stop was the Lagos Race Course situated in the Tafawa Balewa Square. As its name clearly suggests it once hosted horse races.

Since 1960 it has been used more for ceremonial events like Nigeria’s independence when the stadium ceremoniously lowered the Union Jack bringing an end to British colonization. The huge sculptures of the horses represent strength and dignity.

We continued to drive around the Central Business district. There was the usual assortment of churches including a rather unusual resident at the holy cross cathedral and it certainly wasn’t the pastor.

Lagos’s most impressive church is the Cathedral church of Christ, initially established in 1869. The foundation stone for the current building was laid by the Prince of Wales in 1924 and competed in 1946.

No trip to any major city is complete without a trip to the market. Balogun is certainly one of the largest but unfortunately for security reasons we couldn’t get out and walk around and worse still we had to be cautious about taking pics.

Tinyteddy’s feedback. Yeah Yeah the tour was great and I enjoyed the Keke ride but the highlight for me was spending the morning with our lovely guide Rory. Ok call it foolishness but even a tinyteddy is allowed to fall in love.  Rory hope you are reading this!!
