Bye Bye Benin – Short and sweet!

Yes three days is a short  time to stay in a country but I was both mentally and physically exhausted by the traveling challenges and the language barrier (and I do speak French).

My aim was to speed through Togo to reach my ultimate destination; Ghana. In fairness I do feel that I had at the very least given it my best shot and seen some worthwhile attracations.  So onwards and upwards. This is how I left Benin. First I had to take a moror bike to the town center.

As usual once we arrived several bush taxi drivers fought for the honour of escorting me to Lome with two of them even fighting over my suitcase. So once settled in the taxi we took off for the border.

Yes you do need a visa for Togo. Unlike Benin they do take dolllars at the border and a visa is quickly issued. I was surprised to find a very large colour TV showing of all things the match between Liverpool and Sheffield United.

Once we reached the town of Lome my driver made a couple of attempts to find my hotel but failed so yet again I was at the mercy of the motor bikes.

Made it and I was in considerably better shape than him.
