I stayed at the Hôtel Diaspora in Ouidah – great location
This modest hotel is located directly on the beach and is about 5 minutes walk from the infamous door of no return and the museum.
The rooms were clean, the air conditioning was excellent and the staff were friendly and spoke good English. The wifi does not work in the rooms but with some perseverance you can get it next to the reception. The mosquito net and the flat screen tv were welcome but don’t expect to find any English channels.
The hotel has a glorious swimming pool.
If you climb up to the roof verandah which is in rather poor condition you will be rewarded with a lovely view.
The breakfast is included but it’s worth paying an extra couple of dollars for the omelette.
There are also some really good gift shops a few minutes down the street. Check out this dude. He will be more than happy to give you a drumming display.
For a little more than $25 nights there wasn’t really anything to complain about.
Tinyteddy”s feedback: I could have sat here all day just enjoying the glorious view and the sea breezes. I had a lovely cup of tea but I would strongly suggest next time we travel we pack a miniature cup to save me constantly having to perch precariously on the top of large cups. Just saying!
